Breast Collars

Western & English Breast Collars / Breast Plates

The purpose of a breast collar is to keep your saddle from slipping forward. It attaches on each side to the d-rings of the saddle, and the girth by running the strap between the horse’s legs.

An English breastcollar also has a strap that goes over the withers and is most often used in hunter classes.

The breast plate is typically used in show jumping to keep the saddle from slipping back. It attaches to the billets of the saddle.  A second strap, which is adjustable, goes over the horses neck/withers area.
